2017 Predictions: It's a Video-First World

It’s predictions season! By now you’ve likely heard just about everyone’s forecast for all the things that are possibly, maybe, most definitely going to happen next year. Some are broad and vague, others extremely tactical.

For our own 2017 predictions, we decided to do some research, to arm you with valuable insights going into next year. Our data-driven predictions come from a study conducted in partnership with The Center for Generational Kinetics. Our goal was to uncover trends around engagement, trust, and new tech, via a national study of U.S. adults 18–64.

Some findings may not surprise you, such as the fact that 84% of viewers say humor will make them watch more video. Other findings, though, are really interesting and speak to larger shifts not only in behavior, but in overall sentiment. See below for the full infographic.

The biggest takeaway is that digital will become a more trusted source for content than TV. Add in the fact that targeting is no longer a dirty word—and that relevant ads feel more authentic, and we’ve got an exciting paradigm shift happening. We’ve been bullish on video and tech for our entire history here at Tremor Video. It’s exciting to see these ideas come to fruition in a big way.
